The challenge

Rank Media was hired to redesign the labels for Rise Kombucha’s new line of drinks with only 1 g of sugar. Art director Santiago Torres shared a rough concept and asked me to illustrate the fruit on each of the four labels.

The approach

  1. Research

    I studied each fruit and chose reference images, sometimes adjusting outlines to make the silhouettes easier to recognize.

  2. Illustration

    I experimented with how the shapes interacted before building each composition on the label files, playing with colour and negative space and working with the art director whenever content needed to change.

The outcome

The line was a success and sold across Canada, and the labels stayed on shelves for several years before the brand moved to a new design.
