I was asked to revamp the website for Fantino & Mondello, a Canadian charcuterie company founded in 1949 that specializes in traditional Italian cold meats. The goal was to modernize their website and make it feel more elegant and high-end.
Planning: I started with a moodboard, using screenshots of competitors and modern trends. I then brainstormed with the project lead over what information should be included on the sitemap. After the sitemap was built and approved, I moved on to the wireframe. I designed a low-fidelity website in its entirety, protytyping and adjusting it as needed based on colleague and client feedback.
Design: After the original moodboard was approved, I implemented the new design, emphasizing the dark colours of the brand in order to reflect the sober elegance of the brand's new image. I used small pops of colour in hovers to reference the bright colours of the product packaging. The bright colors helped grab the user's attention, making the website feel vibrant without compromising its serious tone.
Implementing: After creating a high fidelity prototype of the website in both desktop and mobile format, I sent it to the developers in order to get their feedback. Some small changes needed to be made based on client budget restrictions. Once the final design was approved by both developers and client, I prepared the design file and assets to be sent to the developers.
Testing: Once the first round of the website was built, it was sent back to me to be reviewed. I looked through all the pages, checking links, hovers, and animations to ensure that everything worked as intended, viewing it on different browsers and phones while noting down all the changes to be made. After two rounds of quality assurance, the website was tested and made live.
