The unique pocket flasher artwork is a big player in Naked & Famous Denim's branding; the company required each denim they created to have its own design.

I completed a multitude of design and illustration projects in the 2+ years I worked at Naked & Famous Denim, a Canadian company that specialized in creating authentic Japanese selvedge denim. I was asked to create new visuals for every type of denim they released, as well as various other design projects such as hangtags, embroideries, leather belt illustrations and digital campaigns.

Pocket Flasher Designs: For the majority of these artworks, I was provided with one or two inspiration images and asked to create the design, combining illustration, colours, textures, and typography. I would create two or three options in rough drafts before presenting them to Bahzad, the company cofounder. Once the direction was approved, I would finalize the design, sometimes including options with slight variations in colours or fonts. For collaborations with Ghostbuster, Street Fighter II or Dragon Ball Z, I worked with a representative of each company to ensure that I was properly using assets and respecting design guidelines. Once the artwork was finalized, I would prepare the files for printing on a variety of special cardstocks and printing methods such as leather, fabrics, holofoil paper, and lenticular printing.

Character Creation: I was asked to create a mascot for Naked & Famous Denim' vending website, Tate + Yoko. I created Super Guy, a friendly and slightly silly-looking personage inspired by one of the old Japanese comics we had in the office. We wanted the designs to have a vintage feel– so, inspired by vintage prints, I used garish colours to fill in the illustrations, making sure to leave some of the edges uncoloured to emulate the misaligned offset printing so often seen in old printouts.

Digital Campaigns: I was asked to create visuals for a variety of announcements, such as new releases, specials, and new jean fits. When using the Super Guy character, I would adapt the character's pose to the design, sometimes asking colleagues to post for photos to be used as reference before beginning the illustration. These announcements would then be produced as website popups, email newsletters and social media posts.
